This portfolio, “Rethinking IPT: Surat’s Move Towards Smarter Mobility”, presents a strategic plan to reform Intermediate Public Transport (IPT) in Surat. It highlights how unregulated IPT growth—especially shared autos—creates inefficiencies and competes with BRTS. Based on mobility analysis, user surveys, and scenario planning, the report proposes phased reforms such as permit caps, phasing out old vehicles, promoting e-autos, and developing dedicated IPT stands. The aim is to reposition IPT as a first- and last-mile feeder that supports an integrated, efficient, and sustainable urban transport system.
