This project redefines Ahmedabad’s Gamtal Extension Zone (GME) as a transition zone that integrates traditional village cores with emerging urban growth. Using Bopal-Ghuma as a case, it proposes a framework of Attract–Activate–Structure to create walkable, mixed-use, transit-linked neighborhoods anchored by civic spaces. Through street-based codes, public edge amenities, and integration with lakes and BRTS, the strategy aims to restore visibility, vibrancy, and economic vitality to gamtals. The approach is supported by regulatory reforms, stakeholder collaboration, and spatial prototyping—positioning the GME as a model for inclusive, future-ready urbanism.
