Design of 2-Span Continuous PSC Voided Slab.

The Main Objective of this studio is to understand the design concept using both theoretical and practical approach. As part of this A project has been assigned, which needs to analysed and designed as per Indian Road Congress Codes. During the project initially literature review has been done on relevant topic along with this few local site visits has been done to understand the types of bridge and its characteristics. In project, firstly A Line diagram model in Staad.Pro Software is prepared, and Static checks were performed. Then load has been extracted, and Prestress Concrete Slab design has been done. It includes, Cable arrangement and Cable Profile, Calculation of short-term losses and long-term losses. Also, at the end of design summary of Stress at top and bottom of section for each stage has been calculated to ensure the stress within permissible limit. Then Grillage model has been prepared for design of diaphragm as per IRC 112 for Flexure, Shear and Torsion. Then Serviceability checks have been performed such as Quasi Permanent Crack Width and SLS Rare Combinations Stress Check. Similarly, from result of grillage model, Pier Cap has been designed following the same steps as in Design of Diaphragm. As Part of Sub structure design after pier cap, pier has been designed for both EJ Span and Continuous Span considering all 3 Forces (P, H T and H L) and 2 Moments (MT and ML). For this, All the possible load has been calculated such as Braking due to LL, Friction force due to bearing arrangements, Seismic Forces and Wind Forces. Based on these, Load Combinations has been prepared as per IRC 6 and then pier has been design using P-M-M interaction curve. After this pier is check for slenderness and design for confinement reinforcement. At the end Pile foundation and Pile Cap has been design as per IRC 78 and IRC 112 that includes Flexural Design and Shear Design. Additionally punching shear has been check for Pile Cap with respect to reactions from the pile.
