VICALP: The Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE) has launched the Vernacular and Innovative Construction
Alternatives for Low-carbon Development Practices (VICALP) project to support Indian cities in decarbonizing their building and
construction sectors. VICALP seeks to accelerate the transition to net-zero emissions by developing city-specific building sector
models, promoting sustainable practices like reducing, replacing, reusing, and recycling in construction, and fostering demand
and supply for low-carbon materials. By implementing targeted training programs, the project aims to enhance skills across the
construction value chain, creating local job opportunities and empowering marginalized communities while advancing sustainable
urban development.
