Optimizing Knowledge Management in Construction Projects: Enhancing Learning Across Project Lifecycles and beyond.

"The construction industry faces challenges in systematically capturing, documenting, and utilizing knowledge generated throughout a project's lifecycle. While vast amounts of data and learnings are exchanged during project initiation, execution, and completion, much of this knowledge is lost due to inadequate documentation and reuse mechanisms. This limits the ability to improve processes, avoid repeated mistakes, and innovate in future projects. This directed research project focuses on developing a knowledge management framework for the construction sector, inspired by lean principles.

The framework will identify critical points for capturing knowledge, propose efficient methods for storage, and outline strategies for ensuring the effective utilization of these learnings across multiple projects. The research will explore how digital tools, artificial intelligence (AI), and standardized practices can be leveraged to facilitate a culture of continuous improvement in the construction domain. By addressing this challenge, the project aims to enhance construction management practices, leading to cost savings, improved quality, faster project delivery, and better stakeholder satisfaction.
