Application of Generative-AI based Construction Site Layout Planning
Site layout planning is a decisive task in any construction project. It plays a major role in determining the cost, productivity and safety of site interacting elements which are material, equipment and personnel (Elbeltagi et al., 2004). By properly planning the site layout, those elements can be optimized through selecting the best location for each facility according to its related activity. Site facilities are many and include material storage areas, construction tool areas, warehouses, operation plants and other site accessories (Ning, Lam, & Lam, 2011). Facilities can be logically allocated in places where the movement of laborers and equipment at the site are planned to be minimal to minimize the operational cost of site resources (Osman & Georgy, 2005). Other factors like safety, space utilization, supervision, accessibility, geometry and topography of the site need also to be taken into consideration during the construction site design process. Dynamic changes in the site layout and fluctuations in material demand are major considerations of planning.
