Application of Last Planning System (LPS) in a commercial construction project

The Last Planner System (LPS) is an advanced planning and control methodology designed specifically for the construction
industry. LPS is a collaborative approach aimed at improving project delivery reliability, enhancing workflow, and reducing
waste. It derives its name from its focus on empowering the "last planners" — those responsible for the execution of work,
such as foremen, supervisors, and trade professionals. Unlike traditional construction planning methods that rely heavily on
top-down schedules, LPS fosters collaboration among all project stakeholders. It integrates a bottom-up approach to create
realistic, actionable plans that consider constraints, resource availability, and the capabilities of the workforce.
Implementing the Last Planner System (LPS) in construction projects is expected to improve planning reliability, reduce
waste and enhance collaboration among project stakeholders. Companies can anticipate increased productivity, better
resource management, and reduced project delays. Overall, LPS leads to cost savings, improved project predictability, and
higher client satisfaction through timely and quality project delivery.
