Self-Sensing Concrete with Metakaolin Geopolymer

In modern construction, there is a growing need for smart materials that can monitor structural health. Self-sensing concrete integrates the ability to sense strain, stress, or damage, providing real-time feedback on the structural integrity of infrastructure. This study focuses on developing a self-sensing concrete using metakaolin-based geopolymer as a binder. Geopolymers are eco-friendly alternatives to traditional cement, contributing to reduced CO2 emissions. By incorporating conductive materials, this concrete can detect changes in electrical properties corresponding to stress or damage. The combination of metakaolin geopolymer and self-sensing technology offers an innovative and sustainable solution for monitoring structural performance.
