UAR20210

The first semester focused on developing drawing and representation skills. Continuing in a similar vein, during the second semester, the CFP Studio component focuses on building analytical abilities. Exercises like mapping and data representation engage with on-ground reality, requiring that the students develop their ability to observe, collect data and analyse it, as well as communicate and represent it meaningfully; building elements and materials allows for initial familiarization with these, theoretically as well as through observation of built spaces around; while making and testing structures uses hands-on experience to enable conceptual understanding. Technical drawing II builds on the skills imbibed initially and develops them towards further complexity. All the exercises find their culmination in tackling a design problem, which brings together the skills and abilities while introducing the students for the first time to the design process. These skills will be put to use during L2 studios, and will be discussed in their relevance to the professional practice that designers, architects and urban planners engage in.

MODEL :The model of the church of Cambay was to made in the Software Archicad. This exercise focused on developing the software skills.

MAPPING NEIGHBOURHOOD: The sheet focuses on understanding the crowd activity along with the vehicular activity throughout the neighborhood on particular time zones.

KNOWING MATERIALITY: Knowing the elements used in constructing builds is one of the skills to be achieved. Thus the sheet focuses on knowing the different building elements and the materials used to make the,

POINTS AND JOINERIES:The slide showcases the Main Model and the joineries explored to make the points stronger.

FAILURES AND PARAMETERS: The sheet focuses on the points/ joineries from where the bamboo cube failed and the type of pressure for the failure. It also focuses on the rectifications to be made to make it stronger.

UNDERSTANDING PLAN: To understand a plan it is very important to know all its parameters. The first sheet is a plan made using different line weights to differentiate the parameters. The other sheet shows the spaces placed by the people as per their requirement. This exercise helped to gain drafting and representing skills.

GEOMETRY OF DOOR: Following sheet is part of Technical drawing too. It shows the different parts of a sliding door made in an isometric view to understand better.

PROGRAM AND USER BRIEF: The exercise was to build a shelter for a yogi in Jaisalmer keeping in mind about the weather conditions and the clients need. First sheet shows the plan along with the sections and elevations in representative manner to get better understanding of the surroundings and different rooms. Sidewise is the model made for the same in Sketchup.

IMAGINING SPACES: The sheet focuses on the sketches made and carved out from a simple composition and made them in the surrounding of a jungle. Different activities also showed at different places.
