Foundation Studio (II), within the CEPT Foundation Programme continues to build upon the skills acquired during the first semester, adding abilities to use digital media in representation; to make models; to understand the assembly of built form through its building elements, materials and structures; to be able to draft architectural and topographical drawings: and eventually leads to bringing the skills and abilities together to tackle a design problem.

A workspace for a wooden toy maker was to be designed during this exercise. Process sheets can be seen on left. The final proposed plan is given on the right. A 1:50 model of the same was built along with appropriate contour levels.

Documentation of the exercises done during the trip to Bhuj. Various building elements, materials and methods of construction were explored during this program.

(Top) Ideation process involved in deriving the structural design of the spanning member. The process involved in making the structure is described below.

The structure was tested and failures in joints, design and material were identified. Necessary rectifications were proposed later.

Technical details (Plan, Elevations, Sections) of ATMA House, Ahmedabad were studied and produced during this exercise. A 1:200 site model of the same was also built.

Different materials, machineries and joinery techniques were explored to build an assemblage of size 300x300 mm.
