Foundation Studio (II), within the CEPT Foundation Programme continues to build upon the skills acquired during the first semester, adding abilities to use digital media in representation; to make models; to understand the assembly of built form through its building elements, materials and structures; to be able to draft architectural and topographical drawings: and eventually leads to bringing the skills and abilities together to tackle a design problem.

The former picture is of a tentative model made using materials on hand and the latter two pictures are of the final model made using the materials provided- wood, metal pipe, metal rod. The final model is made using various joineries.

The pictures in the upper half are process drawings of the final model and various joineries that could be explored between the materials provided. The bottom half consists of the final exploded hand drafted drawing of the final model and a sketchup model of the final model.

Model of spanning member made using reed sticks and thread to test the forces on the same. The bottom half shows detailed joining techniques used and failures in the model once force was applied.

Digital and hand drawn drawings of the spanning member as a part of the process to estimate the overall dimensions and type of joineries that could be used.
