Foundation Studio (II), within the CEPT Foundation Programme continues to build upon the skills acquired during the first semester, adding abilities to use digital media in representation; to make models; to understand the assembly of built form through its building elements, materials and structures; to be able to draft architectural and topographical drawings: and eventually leads to bringing the skills and abilities together to tackle a design problem.

On site study of L.D Institute of Indology was performed to understand various aspects of the building. A collection of gauged and technically drafted plans, elevations and sections were then produced of the same.

In relation to the leather craft programme, a site analysis and human ergonomics study are conducted.

To create a functionally programmed workspace for a leather craftsperson with an impression of proximity, adjacency diagrams were developed. An intent to create a space that interacts with the nature of the site to bring about a sensorial experience is also evident above.

Herein a summary of traced process sheets is shown to give emphasis on methodology used to achieve the final outcome.

The final plan of leather craftsperson's workspace is shown above. In order to increase the number of openings on the eastern façade and allow more access to the stunning lake vista the site offers, the courtyard effect is accentuated. To keep the area one large expanse, yet adding a breathing place between the recreational and professional areas, a pathway was erected.

The model of the same leather workspace is fabricated to understand the quality of space. It depicts the experiential pathway, courtyard effect, incorporated perforated brick jali and erected vaulted ceilings to deal with Jaisalmer's extreme climate.

Before building hefty structures it is important to break one, that is to comprehend the different kinds of failures that might occur as a result of various forces acting on them. Here, a tower constructed of reed sticks is created and put to the test to accomplish the same.
