After focusing on developing drawing and representation skills in first semester, during the second semester, the CFP Studio component focuses on building analytical abilities with exercises like mapping and data representation, buidling elements and materials, making and testing structures, technical drawing II and tackling a design problem. These skills will be put to use during L2 studios, and will be discussed in their relevance to the professional practice that designers, architects and urban planners engage in.

Imaginative Drawing This exercise helped develop the ability to bring words into reality and turn imagination into visuals. Mapping and Data Representation Process The process included making a large A0 map by hand to add details and then scaling it down digitally to add the density of vehicles. Medium: Pencils for the baseman and Digital Size: A0

Estimating Costs This exercise developed the skill to interview people along with understanding hidden costs behind services and products. Learnt the skill of communication, organisation and representation of data in the best way possible. Medium: Digital(Procreate), Watercolours, Markers Size: A3

Making and Testing Structures This exercise helped in understanding how load works and constructing according to the use of the structure. In the process, the use of sketches and sketch-up really helped express our ideas onto paper. Medium: Digital(Sketch-up, Procreate) and Pencils Size: A3

Joining Elements This exercise helped learn the exploration of various materials and how they came together. It also helped improve my skills of sketch-up and showed the importance of dimensions and working drawings. Medium: Digital(Sketch-up, Procreate) Size: A3

Organising Principles This exercise made me learn the various rules of composition that are used in actual buildings to increase aesthetic and ease construction to maximsse durability. It made me understand their importance and how they help achieve a solid structure at the end. Medium: Digital(Indesign) Size: A3

Digital Representation It helped me represent my working drawings digitally. It also made me understand the use of line weights to denote various building elements and different commands of auto cad. Medium: Digital(Autocad) Size: A3
