After focusing on developing drawing and representation skills in first semester, during the second semester, the CFP Studio component focuses on building analytical abilities with exercises like mapping and data representation, buidling elements and materials, making and testing structures, technical drawing II and tackling a design problem. These skills will be put to use during L2 studios, and will be discussed in their relevance to the professional practice that designers, architects and urban planners engage in.

Fablab: I was fascinated by 3D printing and laser cutting and decided to make something personal for myself.

Estimating Costs: This salon is situated a hundred metres from my house and therefore I got to spend a few extra hours getting to know how money is managed and spent in a salon. The chosen topic for the study was the cost of starting a hair salon and the necessary expenditure for the first month.

Imaginative Drawing: The final drawing, which is the biggest picture in the frame was done with only pencils and microns. The scenery provided by the text mentions a very dark and gloomy atmosphere in this fictional world, hence the usage of the aforementioned medium.

Joining Elements: Despite the symmetry of the structure being slightly off, each joinery was made to fit tight and perfect.

Mapping: The topic chosen for this exercise was mapping the plinth heights of each building in the site and categorising it based on the activities that took place in them.

Ordering Principles: The selected plan view of a site in California of a villa showcases a few identified principles of ordering and arrangement.

Making And Testing Structures: The assigned structure type (tower) was constructed using 66 pins and 54 lashings and took a load of 18 kiilograms worth of bricks before reaching its load limit and failing.

Making And Testing Structures: Some more images and closeups of the joineries.

Colour Theory: This exercise helped me acquire a new skill: painting within the margins. It was a refreshing experience that helped me build patience and the ability to sit and work long hours.
