The CEPT Foundation Programme studio is an introduction for students fresh out of school to the rigor and work habits required by an undergraduate degree at CEPT University. The studio is conceptualized as a series of sequentially planned exercises, through which students develop skills and abilities, which are then deployed to address increasingly complex problems falling in four broad categories: visualize and draw, make and learn, anayse and interpret and conceptualise and represent. The exercises are designed to provide foundational skills for students across disciplines at CEPT, between which they maintain a balance. They also reflect an understanding that at the foundation level, these skills overlap to a large extent, and a varied array is of benefit to all students. The studio is taught through intensive 1–2 week long modules, focusing on a particular skill or ability, and a process that emphasizes ongoing feedback in addition to expert faculty lectures.

“Casino Floors” is an imaginary drawing created with reference to the site, Karuna Guest House and its various attributes.

Studying the Karuna Guest House through plan, section and a representative drawing.

Studying the furniture at Karuna Guest House and creating scaled down models using balsa.

Understanding the structure of a straight tower made by lashing reed sticks together. Failure of the tower occurred at 3 bricks, due to torsion.

Exploring various joinery by creating a 30cm x 30cm x 30cm cube using wood, metal plate, pipe, rod and hardware.

Mapping the water resources, usage and drainage at Victoria Garden, Raikhad, and representing the data through a "flow"chart.

A booklet made by conducting a S.W.O.T. Analysis of the floating jetties and changing rooms installed at the Ganga River. A storytelling method has been adopted to convey the various functions of the jetty, through plans, section and illustrations at 3 ghats.

Making a mind map of the observations and experiences from Varanasi to derive the theme of "Punya collection ana the timelessness of Varanasi."

Developing a dynamic board with repetitive rotating wheels with popped up paths which represents navigation through time.

Finalizing the graphics and components of the game, board joinery and compact packaging.
