The CEPT Foundation Programme studio is an introduction for students fresh out of school to the rigor and work habits required by an undergraduate degree at CEPT University. The studio is conceptualized as a series of sequentially planned exercises, through which students develop skills and abilities, which are then deployed to address increasingly complex problems falling in four broad categories: visualize and draw, make and learn, anayse and interpret and conceptualise and represent. The exercises are designed to provide foundational skills for students across disciplines at CEPT, between which they maintain a balance. They also reflect an understanding that at the foundation level, these skills overlap to a large extent, and a varied array is of benefit to all students. The studio is taught through intensive 1–2 week long modules, focusing on a particular skill or ability, and a process that emphasizes ongoing feedback in addition to expert faculty lectures.

Joining Elements delved into exploring joineries between wood and metal, as seen in the process sheets above. It helped gain knowledge about woodworking and metalworking tools, methods and operations. Hardware such as screws, nuts and bolts were carefully chosen and used too.

My final work for Field Studio at Varanasi revolves around the local Gods worshipped at Varanasi. The final work is in the form of a booklet. Scan the QR Code or click 'View Additional Work' to read the booklet.

For Mapping, our site was Raikhad, Ahmedabad. I had mapped the human activities and vehicular parking, which are both correlated. On observing the place, an infographic showcasing factual stats and figures has also been designed.

The module Documenting and Representing required us to observe a building along with measuring it on-site to produce technical drawings at suitable scales. With the help of the technical drawings, a final representation drawing was made.

The site from Documenting and Representing was put into a fictional world that operates on different rules. Here, the final drawing showcases the church in a world where it is illegal to grow plants and cook food. Bags of grains are worshipped in the church while the clergymen illegally grow plants in the basement.

Many sketches here showcase our ideation process once we had chosen the theme- since the brief for this module was to design a game choosing a sub-topic from the city of Varanasi. The final theme chosen was Economy in Varanasi and the factors (like seasonal changes and time) that affect it. Most sheets here show brainstorming about how we could communicate the theme to the players effectively. (Group mates: U23107 & U23268)

This slide shows iterations made for the graphics before concluding on the final graphic style along with some explanations for the rules set in the gameplay. (Group mates: U23107 & U23268)
