The Monsoon Semester of the CEPT Foundation Programme inculcates foundational design skills through sequential exercises focused on perfecting freehand and perspective drawing, visualizing and drawing complex compositions. Students learn to make technical drawings using orthographic projections, surface development and exploded views of complex objects; develop the skill of estimating sizes and begin to engage with anthropometrics. Ordering principles, colour theory, imaginative drawing and deciphering and interpreting styles help them develop more complex skills. Alongside, parallel exercises focus on describing objects and presenting their own work in writing, while guest speaker lectures offer exposure to other disciplines.

A variety of subtractions were cut out to create an interesting composition of solids.

The drawings show the perspective, orthographic, isometric and axonometric views of a composition of 3 matchboxes.

The models were made by thick card papers to make them sturdy.

The drawing shows the isometric exploded view of a cycle bell. The dashed lines clearly show the way in which each part comes together as a whole to function. The central dash-dot line shows the central axis of all the circular openings through which the central screw rod passes.

Every pixel in the center of the sheet is painted with a different shade of red to catch the variation of light and shadows on the body of the parrot. The 4 pixels showing the face with eye are not painted complete white, but a small tinge of grey is added to the pixels to account for the black eye ball.

Various shades of each color are used to show the effect of light in the drawing.

The font style used in the title indicates Jobs’ strong connection with technology because of the small wire and dot forms made in the design of the font. Below it, the gradient and the parallel horizontal lines of ‘Zero Prime Gradient’ in the subtitle ‘Macintosh to MacBook Air’ also draws a connection to technology. The date, venue and the description are in simple ‘Myriad Pro’ font style to articulate his minimalist personality. Use of different font styles in the poster reflect Jobs’ hobby of typography and designing font styles.

The campus was divided into various numbered sections drawn on the basis of various built spaces inside the campus. The thick dotted orange lines show the axes of their arrangement in the campus. Each section was analyzed on the basis of arrangement of various built forms such as columns, stairs etc. A general observation was also made to understand the organization of various rooms in the campus.

Length of a normal footstep was measured accurately and it was then used to gauge the width of the road. Height of trees, lampposts and electrical poles were gauged by judging how many humans can be placed one above the other till that height. A human figure silhouette thus was drawn between the divider and the car to give an understanding of the size in real setup. Smaller heights and widths such as the height and the width of the divider and the pavement on the left were gauged using handspan and palm width.

Sketches were done to explore different mediums. Each medium follows a different technique to show the effect of light and shadow.
