The Monsoon Semester of the CEPT Foundation Programme inculcates foundational design skills through sequential exercises focused on perfecting freehand and perspective drawing, visualizing and drawing complex compositions. Students learn to make technical drawings using orthographic projections, surface development and exploded views of complex objects; develop the skill of estimating sizes and begin to engage with anthropometrics. Ordering principles, colour theory, imaginative drawing and deciphering and interpreting styles help them develop more complex skills. Alongside, parallel exercises focus on describing objects and presenting their own work in writing, while guest speaker lectures offer exposure to other disciplines.

Freehand Drawing- The above slide contains images of forms and assemblages drawn freehand.

Technical Drawing- The slide contains images of various projections of a composition drafted both manually and on AutoCAD; as well as a drafted surface development and corresponding models.

The above slide contains a study of the comprising parts of a mechanical object, in this case a crank sharpener.

The slide contains a study of various principles of organisation and composition and some applications.

The slide contains a study of colour theory.

The slide contains two parts; the first two images study the style of a given door, and the last three images contain a study of the style of Leonardo da Vinci and a translation of the deciphered style through various digital media.

Sketching (3): The slide contains works done in charcoal, quick sketches of 3D alphabets and some blind contour drawings.
