The Monsoon Semester of the CEPT Foundation Programme inculcates foundational design skills through sequential exercises focused on perfecting freehand and perspective drawing, visualizing and drawing complex compositions. Students learn to make technical drawings using orthographic projections, surface development and exploded views of complex objects; develop the skill of estimating sizes and begin to engage with anthropometrics. Ordering principles, colour theory, imaginative drawing and deciphering and interpreting styles help them develop more complex skills. Alongside, parallel exercises focus on describing objects and presenting their own work in writing, while guest speaker lectures offer exposure to other disciplines.

In this exercise, we created various subtracted compositions freehand and examined how they looked from various perspectives.

Here, we drafted technical drawings using a colored model, and also made 3d models of subtracted solids .

The smaller components depicted on the right are at a scale of 1:1.

Here, we learnt about various types of ordering systems, and documented similar observable systems in our surroundings.

To understand the concept of color combinations, we rendered various assemblages with different colors.

The image was manually pixelated using combinations of poster colors.

A collage space, and a poster based on the traits of the allocated personality were made, to understand his style better.

The illustrated space depicts an alien environment with a futuristic machine, based on the written essay documenting the space.

Here, we used our hands and legs to gauge the sizes of objects near us, and our surrounding spaces.

Sketching involved working with media like charcoal, microns and pencils, and to sketch these objects and spaces around us from various viewpoints.
