The Monsoon Semester of the CEPT Foundation Programme inculcates foundational design skills through sequential exercises focused on perfecting freehand and perspective drawing, visualizing and drawing complex compositions. Students learn to make technical drawings using orthographic projections, surface development and exploded views of complex objects; develop the skill of estimating sizes and begin to engage with anthropometrics. Ordering principles, colour theory, imaginative drawing and deciphering and interpreting styles help them develop more complex skills. Alongside, parallel exercises focus on describing objects and presenting their own work in writing, while guest speaker lectures offer exposure to other disciplines.

This image features digitally drafted sheets of a matchbox composition with imaginary subtractions.

The same matchbox composition has been drafted in perspective views using AutoCAD.

This sheet contains an exploded view of a roller skate, drawn and drafted to scale.

In this particular drawing, an attempt has been made to accurately gauge the dimensions of and draw a street section. The critical dimensions have been displayed in red and the measured dimensions have been written within brackets.

The assemblage that has been presented has been drawn freehand and then been coloured digitally using a primary and neutral colour scheme.

The surface developments of these models were drafted on AutoCAD and subsequently recreated by hand on a piece of paper to form a physical model.

The image of the door was the inspiration behind this design of a birdhouse. The thought behind it and the parallels drawn have been presented on the sheet.

The collage and poster presented, have been tailored to match the style of the architect, Rosaria Piomelli. The collage is a space designed for her and the poster is for an event about her.

The presented live sketches have been done on Autodesk Sketchbook by observing my own hand and various objects around me.

The first sketch presented here has been done using charcoal and pencil while the other two have been done using microns.
