The Monsoon Semester of the CEPT Foundation Programme inculcates foundational design skills through sequential exercises focused on perfecting freehand and perspective drawing, visualizing and drawing complex compositions. Students learn to make technical drawings using orthographic projections, surface development and exploded views of complex objects; develop the skill of estimating sizes and begin to engage with anthropometrics. Ordering principles, colour theory, imaginative drawing and deciphering and interpreting styles help them develop more complex skills. Alongside, parallel exercises focus on describing objects and presenting their own work in writing, while guest speaker lectures offer exposure to other disciplines.

This is the exploded isometric view of a manual hand juicer and the one part is also in sectional view. The dotted line in the middle indicates the central axis on which all the 6 parts of the squeezing chamber lay in their respective exploded position to make an assembly. This observation, visualization and the technique of representation can help me further to understand the arrangement of building elements.

In Technical Drawing, all the different views of the matchbox composition are hand-drafted with Drafting tools. The models are made based on the digitally drafted sheets with proper measurements.

One can read the whole drawing with its scale and measurement unit which is in the right bottom corner. It is made with gauged dimensions and for that i have gauged the dimensions of all spaces by using my foot, palm, height, and hand. This technique can be really helpful in the future to develop a skill to gauze the dimension without measuring tape.

These Isometric, 2 point perspective assemblage and the other shapes with subtracted solids are made with Free hand without using any tools.

There are 3 assemblages and every assemblage are colored with different schemes of colors like analogues, Triad and neutral and primary colors. This can help me further to pick proper colors for which coordinates with one another.

This collage and the graphical composition are tribute to an Australian symbolist painter Gustav Klimt who is also known as “Golden Klimt”, as he has used original golden leaves in his paintings. In the poster, I have used his most famous painting ‘Life of Tree’ as a dominant one which appears here as ‘Life of Woman’ in the collage. I got to know this wondrous painter and his design style which is Byzantine mosaic and how his paintings were relatable in that era. I also learned the art of using only one color with different shades.

This haunted room sketch is the final outcome of my imaginative story, after a long process. I have drawn this with my hand first in a traditional way and then coloured it digitally, before that I made more than 50 process sheets with charcoal, pen and pencils. As one can see there are two parts in the drawing, the Dark side and the Light side. This process can help me in the future because as a designer putting our idea on paper within a particular time limit is the most important skill.

There is a collage for Elon Musk , which is based on his futuristic personality. There is also a graphics of Mars planet with different shades of red and the city in the middle, made with Autodesk sketchbook along with photoshop which is based on Elon Musk’s Vision for the future mars. The graphics of a city are the emphasis of the whole poster. I learned that to make a poster it is necessary to have a hierarchy with all the details to communicate the information.

Here is the plan of Mercers Castle made by Henry Chapman Mercer, divided into blocks to understand its various Organization principles. The blocks shown in the red color here are the main part of the construction of the building as it carries the load of the whole structure, each has different organization principles. This can help me further to analyze other building’s plan organization and arrangement.

These are examples of different types of exercises done in sketching schedule. These all were done in different mediums like sign pens, markers, charcoals, pencils and pens with proper process.
