The Monsoon Semester of the CEPT Foundation Programme inculcates foundational design skills through sequential exercises focused on perfecting freehand and perspective drawing, visualizing and drawing complex compositions. Students learn to make technical drawings using orthographic projections, surface development and exploded views of complex objects; develop the skill of estimating sizes and begin to engage with anthropometrics. Ordering principles, colour theory, imaginative drawing and deciphering and interpreting styles help them develop more complex skills. Alongside, parallel exercises focus on describing objects and presenting their own work in writing, while guest speaker lectures offer exposure to other disciplines.

Note. The sheet on the right is an exploded view of the dismantled Roller Skate composed manually with reference to the position on the axis. Source. Self

Note. The sheet on the left is a surface development of the first model. It is created digitally on AutoCAD. Source. Self

Note. The poster on the left is inspired by Freddie Mercury's life and on the right is a mind map portraying the characteristics of his personality. Both are created in Adobe Photoshop.

Note. The pixelation on the left is done manually with acrylic colours (original picture is in references image section). The mood board portraying the word 'Calm' is created in Autodesk Sketchbook. Source of the images from the mood board. Unknown.

Note. The first sketch of the composition of the objects is made with charcoal. The hand gesture and the plant are sketched digitally in Autodesk Sketchbook. The imaginative destruction of the chair is done with microns. The onion is sketches with markers. The perspective view of the interior and the staircase is in micron.

Note. The assemblage is made in two point perspective and then rendered digitally on Adobe Photoshop.

Note. The bird house on the right is designed taking the inspiration from The Hobbit door on the right.

Note. The left drawing is drafted digitally in AutoCAD and the right one is drafted manually. The models placed below are matchboxes wrapped with coloured paper. Source. Self

Note. The posters are made on Adobe Photoshop while exploring the software for the first time. Source. Unknown. The original images are placed with the posters.

Note. This plan of the Hines house is analyzed in terms of the design principles that its contraction follows. Source. Provided by the tutors.
