The Monsoon Semester of the CEPT Foundation Programme inculcates foundational design skills through sequential exercises focused on perfecting freehand and perspective drawing, visualizing and drawing complex compositions. Students learn to make technical drawings using orthographic projections, surface development and exploded views of complex objects; develop the skill of estimating sizes and begin to engage with anthropometrics. Ordering principles, colour theory, imaginative drawing and deciphering and interpreting styles help them develop more complex skills. Alongside, parallel exercises focus on describing objects and presenting their own work in writing, while guest speaker lectures offer exposure to other disciplines.

Freehand Drawing helped me loosen my hand and achieve smoother strokes.

Technical Drawing involved a lot of precision as all the drawings were either manually or digitally drafted. Drafting tools were introduced to us, which aided us greatly.

How Things Work was an exhilarating but an exciting module as minute details had to be observed and then drafted. Each part's function had to be labelled as well. A lot of trials were made to achieve the most precise drawings.

A lot of use of colours was involved, hence, the interest and favouritism. Various colour palettes and schemes were explored.

These exercises helped us explore mood boards, along with replicating different hues and tints. Swatches were made too.

Gauging and measuring objects around the house helped me sharpen my estimation skills. It also helped us understand the relative sizes of different objects.

Making plans and sections was a strenuous chore, but in the end, it turned out to be quite useful for our judgements as well.

Digital Representation helped me showcase one of my other interests- food blogging, through a brochure.

It also helped me explore various tools on Adobe Illustrator.

A compilation of the initial sketches done, along with a polished digital sketch. Blind sketches were a very interesting concept.
