The Monsoon Semester of the CEPT Foundation Programme inculcates foundational design skills through sequential exercises focused on perfecting freehand and perspective drawing, visualizing and drawing complex compositions. Students learn to make technical drawings using orthographic projections, surface development and exploded views of complex objects; develop the skill of estimating sizes and begin to engage with anthropometrics. Ordering principles, colour theory, imaginative drawing and deciphering and interpreting styles help them develop more complex skills. Alongside, parallel exercises focus on describing objects and presenting their own work in writing, while guest speaker lectures offer exposure to other disciplines.

One point perspective views of the composition of 3 matchboxes were technically drafted. Physical models of two surface developments, a subtracted cube and a cone were also made.

The composition and functioning of a mechanical whisker were studied.

An isometric exploded view of the mechanism was hand-drafted and labelled.

To understand the color theory, a picture was manually pixelated and a grid of nine squares was painted with colours corresponding to a monochromatic composition of 9 objects.

The concept of deciphering and interpreting style was practiced by studying Wes Anderson's style and designing an office and a talk show poster for him.

The idea of an imaginative dreamland was digitally translated into visuals.

Various techniques and mediums of sketching were explored in these live and imaginative sketches.

The digital medium was explored as a tool for sketching.
