The Monsoon semester focuses on equipping students with various techniques to visualise, draw and represent. The students also start to engage with existing buildings to identify various building elements, basic construction materials and methods. They practise and work intensively to perfect their freehand drawing and perspective drawing, to visualize and draw complex compositions. They also learn to make technical drawings using orthographic projections, surface development and the exploded view of a complex object. A series of exercises in sketching will enable the students to sketch freely in order to observe, document, imagine and improvise. The exercise on gauging sizes will develop the habit of estimating sizes using one’s body and through it the students will begin to engage with the concept of anthropometrics. Through the exercise on building elements and materials the students will start to engage with existing buildings to decipher their building elements and materials and understand the sequence of construction. In the last exercise the students will go through the process of documenting an existing building and making a set of architectural drawings.

The image comprises of a sheet of two compositions which are rendered using techniques like stippling and scribbling. Below it is a lettering sheet of spacing 5mm. Alongside, there are sheets of sections of a prism wireframe and subtracted solids.

The sheets above have been made in autocad to represent a 3D model from various angles and views. The sheets below show surface development for a subtracted cube, cylinder and hexagonal prism.

This sheet shows the working of binoculars. All of its parts are shown in an exploded isometric view with each part's function labelled.

The sheet shows the section of a street in Guru Amar Dass Nagar, Jalandhar. The dimensions for making this have all been gauged. Actual measured dimenions are put in a bracket along the gauged dimensions for a comparison.

A continuation to the gauging exercise, this image shows the plan and two sections of a bedroom.

The image shows a wall section with all its elements labelled and all the materials properly hatched. There's also a model for the same.

On the top is a grid of colors that are different shades of green. These shades have been color-matched to some real life objects. Next is an assemblage colored using primary and neutral colors. The third sheet is a collage capturing the essence of Ar. Marina Tabassum's works. The last sheet is of an assemblage colored in analogous color scheme.

This image consists of a cognitive map and basemap of the locality of Guru Amar Dass Nagar in Jalandhar. It captures the different types of structures, elements and activities taking place in the area.

This is the final map of Guru Amar Dass Nagar. A keymap, a graphical scale and the north direction have been indicated for reference.

The image shows sketches made using different mediums and capturing different nuances. On the top, the two sheets made in charcoal capture a human figure in various postures. Next sheet is to show the life of a chair, the kind of decay a furniture item would experience over time. On the bottom left, is an imaginative drawing of various alphabets in a circus. This has been made using ink and kitta. Lastly there's a tree that shows the different strokes that can be achieved using the medium ink.
