The Monsoon semester focuses on equipping students with various techniques to visualise, draw and represent. The students also start to engage with existing buildings to identify various building elements, basic construction materials and methods. They practise and work intensively to perfect their freehand drawing and perspective drawing, to visualize and draw complex compositions. They also learn to make technical drawings using orthographic projections, surface development and the exploded view of a complex object. A series of exercises in sketching will enable the students to sketch freely in order to observe, document, imagine and improvise. The exercise on gauging sizes will develop the habit of estimating sizes using one’s body and through it the students will begin to engage with the concept of anthropometrics. Through the exercise on building elements and materials the students will start to engage with existing buildings to decipher their building elements and materials and understand the sequence of construction. In the last exercise the students will go through the process of documenting an existing building and making a set of architectural drawings.

This slide contains the process of understanding the design and build of a chair and then imagining it being subjected to harsh conditions for a long period of time.

This slide features a cross section of my house with different hatching techniques indicating the use of different material. The pictures on the right show a model based on the adjacent sectional drawing.

The two images above are freehand perspective assemblages made of subtracted solids. The first image is a two point perspective assemblage while the second image is a one point assemblage which has been colored using the split complementary color scheme.

The first image features two different compositions of subtracted solids which have been rendered with two different rendering techniques. The image on the bottom is an isometric assemblage of 25 subtracted solids. Both of the sheets have been drawn freehand.

This slide contains a collage and a graphic representing the color palette of the painter Gustav Klimt. Both of the above sheets are made keeping in mind the style and the amount of colors used by the artist.

The above images are a part of the "Draw what you see" exercise. The first and fourth drawings have been made using ink and kitta while the second and third drawing has been made using charcoal.

Image on the left is a labelled exploded view of a multi tool. The pictures on the right show the object as a whole as well as when dismantled.

The reference image on the bottom has been divided into pixels and then each of the pixels was painted with its respective dominant color resulting in the final pixelated image above.

The map above shows the activities of the elderly in my neighborhood. They have been highlighted using different colors for each attribute. The thumbnails around the map represent the mentioned activities.

The slide contains two different sheets from the technical drawing exercise. The sheet on the top represents the different views of a matchbox composition while the sheet on the bottom represents the surface development of a hinged truncated hexagonal prism.
