The Monsoon semester focuses on equipping students with various techniques to visualise, draw and represent. The students also start to engage with existing buildings to identify various building elements, basic construction materials and methods. They practise and work intensively to perfect their freehand drawing and perspective drawing, to visualize and draw complex compositions. They also learn to make technical drawings using orthographic projections, surface development and the exploded view of a complex object. A series of exercises in sketching will enable the students to sketch freely in order to observe, document, imagine and improvise.The exercise on gauging sizes will develop the habit of estimating sizes using one’s body and through it the students will begin to engage with the concept of anthropometrics. Through the exercise on building elements and materials the students will start to engage with existing buildings to decipher their building elements and materials and understand the sequence of construction. In the last exercise the students will go through the process of documenting an existing building and making a set of architectural drawings.

Freehand drawing: The very first exercise that involved drawing lines, forms, shapes, composition, and much more with only using different kinds of pencils.

Technical Drawing I: This module comprises drafting different views and perspectives of a matchbox composition, surface development of various forms, and making models.

How Things Work: This exercise created an understanding of how an object is built, it's working, and it's mechanism.

Sketching_01: This was a warmup exercise and drawing quick live sketches within different time phrases.

Sketching_02: Sketching different situations and what we can see in a particular time frame.

Color Theory: Playing with colors and understanding different color schemes is what this module was all about.

Deciphering ordering Principles: This module was about recognizing the different principles and orders

Gauging Sizes: The exercise was about measuring the spaces and objects with our body parts and scaling them to fit in the sheet.

Building Elements and Materials: Recognizing the elements and materials that are used in buildings, making a section of a built form and followed by a model of the same section.

Mapping and Data Representation: The last exercise was about mapping and understanding our neighborhoods.
