TThe CEPT Foundation Programme studio is an introduction for students fresh out of school to the rigor and work habits required by an undergraduate degree at CEPT University. The studio is conceptualized as a series of sequentially planned exercises, through which students develop skills and abilities, which are then deployed to address increasingly complex problems falling in four broad categories: visualize and draw, make and learn, anayse and interpret and conceptualise and represent. The exercises are designed to provide foundational skills for students across disciplines at CEPT, between which they maintain a balance. They also reflect an understanding that at the foundation level, these skills overlap to a large extent, and a varied array is of benefit to all students. The studio is taught through intensive 1–2 week long modules, focusing on a particular skill or ability, and a process that emphasizes ongoing feedback in addition to expert faculty lectures.

Freehand drawing - From drawing straight lines to constructing assemblages of subtracted forms.

Technical drawing - Drafted multi-view drawings of a matchbox composition, process models and the surface development for a cone.

How things work - As the name suggests, this slide contains a study of how an object works, which is a bicycle seat, in this case. This was done by disassembling it and then drawing an exploded view.

Gauging sizes - Drawings of an object, a furniture, a room as well as an open space, all gauged by using the human body as a measuring device.

This slide contains work from 2 modules - Observational Drawing and Digital Representation (which includes AutoCAD, Sketchup, Indesign, etc.)

Model Making - Models made from card paper, clay, cement and thermocol.

Material Exploration - Material collage and final abstract model which showcases many of the possible manipulations on wood.

Ordering principles - Illustrations and photographs that represent the various rules of visual organisation & perception.

Deciphering Type - A study of the geometry of letters from a particular Type, representing meaning through words and choosing appropriate fonts for different kinds of businesses.

B3- A study of the theory of colours and B4- deciphering the style of Mies van der Rohe through the creation of a poster and a collage in his style.
