TThe CEPT Foundation Programme studio is an introduction for students fresh out of school to the rigor and work habits required by an undergraduate degree at CEPT University. The studio is conceptualized as a series of sequentially planned exercises, through which students develop skills and abilities, which are then deployed to address increasingly complex problems falling in four broad categories: visualize and draw, make and learn, anayse and interpret and conceptualise and represent. The exercises are designed to provide foundational skills for students across disciplines at CEPT, between which they maintain a balance. They also reflect an understanding that at the foundation level, these skills overlap to a large extent, and a varied array is of benefit to all students. The studio is taught through intensive 1–2 week long modules, focusing on a particular skill or ability, and a process that emphasizes ongoing feedback in addition to expert faculty lectures.

This, a portrayal of technical drawing exercise, depicts the front, top, right and left side elevations, alongside bird's eye view and worm's eye view of three matchboxes, one tilted to 30 degrees. An earnest endeavour to grasp perspective and precision.

An exploration of forms through freehand drawing exercise. Deliberately rendered cuboids, cylinders, square pyramids and prisms with single and double subtractions to illuminate their 3D structure. Additionally, cuboids and cylinders are depicted in various views- isometric, elevation oblique, plan oblique and rear isometric, all achieved entirely through freehand drawings for a comprehensive understanding of spatial representation.

A detailed exploration of mechanical functionality depicted through and exploded view of a slide projector. Each component is hand-drawn in isometric perspective, accompanied by detailed labelling explaining its function. This illustration serves to enhance understanding of the inner workings of this mechanical device.

An endeavour in mastering gauging techniques, this drawing illustrates the plan and elevation of the CEPT workshop. Crafted solely through foot pace and height measurements relative to a person, it serves as a practical exercise in spatial awareness through gauging. A foundational exploration in architectural representation.

An exercise in keen observation and meticulous detail, this collection of hand drawn sketches showcases various parts of an orange. Through careful examination and note-taking, each sketch emphasizes the importance of observational drawing. A humble exploration of capturing the intricacies of natural forms with precision and details serves to be a foundation for the art of observational drawing.

An exploration of visual perception rules such as figure and ground and closure. These drawings reflects an attempt to portray these principles, showcasing an understanding of how elements are organised and perceived in visual compositions.

An exploration of colour theory through practical application, this sheet depicts a bird image with a portion pixelated and painted to dissect and understand its colours.

An exercise in deciphering type, this collection of drawings meticulously recreates the letters Z, J and L in Baskerville font. Following a reference image, each letter is drawn to a 1;2 scale using precise measurements derived from the reference. This selection of letters showcases variations in forms - diagonal, rounded and straight, providing a comprehensive study and experimentational understanding of typographic elements.

An exploration of gauging techniques, this drawing presents the plan of a bathroom and bedroom, crafted solely through foot pacing and hand measurements. Absent of measing devices, this exercise highlights the reliance of human scale references to accurately depict spatial relationships and component placement within the architectural layout.

An exploration of artistic style, this poster, digitally created attempts to capture the essence of Jackson Pollock's abstract expressionism. Through bold and abstract graphics, the poster reflects Pollock's style. An endeavour in deciphering and emulating the distinctive artistic traits of a renowned artist.
