TThe CEPT Foundation Programme studio is an introduction for students fresh out of school to the rigor and work habits required by an undergraduate degree at CEPT University. The studio is conceptualized as a series of sequentially planned exercises, through which students develop skills and abilities, which are then deployed to address increasingly complex problems falling in four broad categories: visualize and draw, make and learn, anayse and interpret and conceptualise and represent. The exercises are designed to provide foundational skills for students across disciplines at CEPT, between which they maintain a balance. They also reflect an understanding that at the foundation level, these skills overlap to a large extent, and a varied array is of benefit to all students. The studio is taught through intensive 1–2 week long modules, focusing on a particular skill or ability, and a process that emphasizes ongoing feedback in addition to expert faculty lectures.

The Freehand Drawing module highlights the development of my skills in linework, construction and composition of geometric forms, culminating in the creation of a cohesive assemblage.

From basic clay studies to refined wooden models and a complex soma cube, the Model Making section showcases my exploration in form and material through hands-on experimentation.

The Technical Drawing module showcases my ability to visualize concepts and models from multiple perspectives and draft it in detail through orthographic and isometric projections.

This section highlights my analysis and understanding of color theory through montages, paintings and photographs.

The Ordering Principles module showcases my exploration of fundamental design principles through a series of cutout compositions.

The Deciphering and Interpreting Styles module displays my analysis and reinterpretation of Salvador Dali's artistic style, with an exploration of compositional choices, color palettes, and thematic elements in the form of a collage and poster.

This section showcases my observational drawings and sketches and highlights my ability to accurately represent and capture the details of the world around me.

The Gauging Sizes module displays my skills in drawing plans and elevations of buildings, streets and objects utilizing on-site gauging and sketching.

This section highlights the development of my analytical drawing skills and my ability to dissect and document the functional components of a Hand drill through hand-drafted representations.

This section showcases my acquisition of skills in diverse design software programs.
