TThe CEPT Foundation Programme studio is an introduction for students fresh out of school to the rigor and work habits required by an undergraduate degree at CEPT University. The studio is conceptualized as a series of sequentially planned exercises, through which students develop skills and abilities, which are then deployed to address increasingly complex problems falling in four broad categories: visualize and draw, make and learn, anayse and interpret and conceptualise and represent. The exercises are designed to provide foundational skills for students across disciplines at CEPT, between which they maintain a balance. They also reflect an understanding that at the foundation level, these skills overlap to a large extent, and a varied array is of benefit to all students. The studio is taught through intensive 1–2 week long modules, focusing on a particular skill or ability, and a process that emphasizes ongoing feedback in addition to expert faculty lectures.

An assemblage of 25 solid subtracted forms made freehand using different grades of pencils. The composition was carefully curated in order keeping balance and order in mind.

A assembled cube made by putting together 5 complex parts together all made out of hard 3mm mountboard. This was made as a part of the model making exercise. Process in making the cube included using thermocol to make a prototype of how the parts will come together and efficient planning was done by making exploded surface developments of each part.

A booklet made on observations and learnings made during the industry visit in the materials and experiences module. The booklet was made by a group of 3 people.

As a part of the gauging sizes module, gauged plans and sections of a specific location were made. The picture showcases the drawings of SSO and North Lawns area of CEPT campus. A thorough gauging was done manually, depicting the flora, hardscapes and built structures of the area.

It is essential to know the how different parts make up a finished product if you wish to be a thoughtful designer. Consequently, in the How Things Work module, an object chosen carefully was dismantled and examined to understand its working principles and how each part, no matter how minute, plays a role in making that product a working specimen. Each part was hand drafted after measuring and composed in the form of an exploded view in the final drawing to understand how it all fits together.

Learning rules of compositions, organization and visual perception.

Color plays a major role in dictating emotions and the overall vibe of any project or product. Thus, to understand color and various color schemes and how different color mix to give diverse results, this module was very useful. An image was pixelated using a 10x10 grid.

Understanding typefaces and the psychologies hidden behind various types of fonts

A poster designed as a part of Deciphering Types exercise aimed at analyzing and decoding the style of a designer. The poster is inspired from the style of storyboard artist and award winning director, Peter Ramsey. The poster is quite comical and uses appropriate graphics and typefaces, all used carefully to make the poster appealing and informative.
