TThe CEPT Foundation Programme studio is an introduction for students fresh out of school to the rigor and work habits required by an undergraduate degree at CEPT University. The studio is conceptualized as a series of sequentially planned exercises, through which students develop skills and abilities, which are then deployed to address increasingly complex problems falling in four broad categories: visualize and draw, make and learn, anayse and interpret and conceptualise and represent. The exercises are designed to provide foundational skills for students across disciplines at CEPT, between which they maintain a balance. They also reflect an understanding that at the foundation level, these skills overlap to a large extent, and a varied array is of benefit to all students. The studio is taught through intensive 1–2 week long modules, focusing on a particular skill or ability, and a process that emphasizes ongoing feedback in addition to expert faculty lectures.

Model making of garlic using clay. 15 x 15 x 15 cm Soma Cube can be dismantled into four pieces, which are made from jute paper and OHP sheet.

Creating a subtracted microconcrete cube using a styrofoam mould. Making 3D forms from surface developments of cone, subtracted cube and icosahedron. Exploration of material by performing various manipulations on the abstract aluminium model using aluminium sheet, aluminium wire and aluminium foil.

Dismantling a manual hand drill, drafting the various parts, and understanding its working mechanism through an exploded isometric view.

Observation of the vehicles that were seen at Bhadra Plaza and depicting the flow of traffic from a plan view.

Study of a capsicum using micron. Exploring charcoal through study of a tree and bark. Freehand drawing of a composition of 6 subtracted solids and an assemblage of 25 subtracted solids in an isometric view.

Depicting the various ordering principles using only squares, circles and triangles.

Drafted multiview and sections of a part of the assemblage in Technical Drawing. Studying and drafting the letter "J" of the Archer font.

Pixelating an image and painting using poster colours. Making a monochromatic montage using various materials.

Deciphering Zaha Hadid's style through a mindmap. Using specific elements of Parametricism to create a poster that is representative of her style.
