What does landscape mean to architecture? How can it be used as a concept and a design method? The idea of the landscape has influenced contemporary architecture in recent times. Architecture has always referred to nature in tectonics or ornament. But in modern architecture, comparing to nature transforms the ideas of form and space. Both form and space have undergone major revolutionary developments in modern times. (Daniel Jauslin) Practitioners of recent times often refer to specific formal and spatial aspects of landscapes to develop their own designs. Hence, with this evolution of a new perspective that changes the crux of architecture, it is necessary to develop a method to re-look designing through the lens of landscape. The scope of this research is to investigate the first and foremost step of designing, that is the site study, and develop a toolkit that allows practices to formalize their own way of reading, recording and representing the site through a landscape lens. The 4 attitudes of landscape as categorized by French urbanist and architecture theorist Sebastien Marot are used as a reference base for developing this toolkit .
