The Ragamala paintings provide a substantial edifice for seeking information that will be otherwise oral or undocumented, mainly because they circumvent complex human relationships with metaphysics. They also assume a position in the cultural milieu about ‘the represented’. An inquiry into the paintings would thus open the window to an intersection of familiar and interdependent fields of human study - art, music and philosophy while seeking answers to questions of architecture.
