Climate change has resulted in more frequent, intense, and prolonged heat waves in India. Extreme Heat Events have disproportionate impacts. Vulnerable populations, such as the residents of informal settlements in India, are significantly affected by extreme heat. Due to the lack of access to a resilient house, these individuals spend most of their time outdoors, exposed to extreme heat, which puts them at high risk of morbidity and mortality. Hence, assessing the outdoor thermal comfort of informal settlements becomes essential. This study aims to assess the outdoor thermal comfort of a low-income settlement in Vatva, Ahmedabad and arrive at optimum design recommendations to improve the outdoor comfort conditions.
