The research delves into decoding playfulness in architecture with respect to Gurjit Singh Matharoo’s work. It explores three main themes, namely; playfulness, estrangement and creativity and their connection, forms the bases of the thesis. Central to the argument presented in the writing is how the playful attitude, through the tools of creativity, help create architectural estrangement, that allows one to subvert norms and defy expectations, creating delightful and novel architecture.
