This paper explores how VR gaming creates an immersive digital experience and the possibilities of introducing VR gaming in an Indian context. After a comprehensive review of literature, theoretical frameworks, and empirical studies, this research scrutinizes the core elements and methodologies used in VR gaming to craft immersive experiences to reach out to the audience locally. By synthesizing insights from the theory of Natyashastra and theoretical inputs from psychology (hedonism), this paper aims to provide a nuanced understanding of the complexities inherent in creating emotionally resonating experiences. The main findings indicate the possibilities in VR gaming that may lack emotional resonance while creating an immersive experience, such as cultural resonance, emotional essence, expressive communication, and multi-sensory stimulation in a specific gaming context. This paper contributes to ongoing paradigms, offering new perspectives for VR gaming strategists and designers to create an enhanced digital experience through the theory of Natyashastra and hedonistic elements in an Indian context.
