Excess urban heat is a cross-cutting challenge that strains the energy supply and decreases the city’s air quality and quality of life. This study is a step toward understanding UHI intensities and their impact on energy use. The urban weather files capture in detail the dynamics of micro-climatic conditions and replace conventional weather files in building simulations to achieve realistic energy use results. The study provides an understanding of the Urban Heat Islands and its impact on cooling energy use intensity projections of commercial buildings.
