Looking at the growth in energy demand in the residential sector, there is a need for an understanding of energy use patterns in different households of the country. This energy demand is primarily driven by appliances and equipment. This is a city specific comprehensive study integrating the methodology and learnings from the Global Buildings Performance Network (GBPN) 2014 report on Residential Buildings in India: Energy Use projections and saving potentials, for an in-depth residential energy consumption analysis of apartment buildings in Lucknow city. The comparable benchmarking dataset gathered through the analysis of annual electricity consumption provides information about the position of the building with respect to others. This promotes an understanding of future electricity demand in the city, thereby enabling better planning and a demand-side management program.
