This Directed Research Project examines and evaluates the Construction and Demolition waste management scenario in Ahmedabad which is one of India's major economic and industrial centres.  The rapid increase in construction activities as a result of rising population and urbanization generates a considerable volume of construction waste. The research aims to analyze the current construction and demolition waste management scenario and to reduce the impact of such wastes by making an efficient policy and suggesting strategies for waste reuse and recycling. The scope of this research is to examine the construction and demolition waste management at recycling plants by conducting semi-structured interviews and suggesting effective policies to increase the recycling rates. The recycling rate for construction waste is very low in Ahmedabad because of poor waste management. The processes involved in waste recycling are looked at closely to identify the areas for improvement. Also, there is a lack of policies confronting the city's actual implementation of waste recycling which needs to be redefined.
