The exponential growth of India's population has precipitated a corresponding surge in waste generation, presenting a pressing challenge for sustainable waste management. The decomposition of organic matter in these landfills produces methane gas, a potent greenhouse gas contributing to global warming. The thesis highlights the potential synergies between waste management and carbon offset mechanisms. By curbing methane emissions through advanced waste treatment processes, India can not only mitigate its environmental footprint but also leverage carbon offset trading to generate revenue streams.
