The increasing environmental and resource challenges posed by conventional infrastructure development demand a shift from the linear “take-make-use-dispose” model to a more regenerative approach. Circular Economy (CE) principles offer a transformative framework that emphasizes resource efficiency, material reuse, waste reduction and lifecycle thinking. This research focuses on adopting CE principles across the entire lifecycle of infrastructure from planning and design to construction, operation & maintenance and deconstruction. By embedding circular strategies such as design for disassembly, use of recycled materials and integration of renewable energy, infrastructure projects can become more sustainable, resilient and cost-effective. The study aims to support the transition toward long-term environmental, economic and social sustainability in infrastructure projects.
