This Directed Research Project investigates strategies to enhance the effectiveness of Common Data Environments (CDEs) within Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) frameworks. While CDEs serve as centralized platforms for managing and sharing project data, their implementation often faces challenges such as data fragmentation, poor interoperability, and lack of standardized performance metrics. Through literature review, case study analysis, stakeholder inputs, and the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), the research identifies key performance indicators (KPIs) like version control, data security, stakeholder engagement, and 4D/5D BIM integration. The outcome is a KPI-driven strategic framework aimed at improving CDE adoption across project phases—planning, design, execution, and operations. The framework provides actionable recommendations to enhance digital collaboration, streamline workflows, and enable more transparent and efficient project delivery in the construction industry.
