This study focuses on analyzing and improving Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT) practices in active urban work zones. Its primary aims are to deeply understand these practices, develop new strategies for better traffic flow and safety, and address existing gaps. Through evaluating perspectives from Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), contractors, and road users, the research aims to identify issues and propose effective solutions. Objectives include a comprehensive analysis of MPT practices, assessing AMC and contractor roles in traffic safety, and understanding road users' experiences and preferences. Bridging these gaps requires collaboration, clear regulations, improved oversight, communication strategies, and safety-focused measures. Implementing these recommendations can create safer and more efficient urban work zones aligned with road users' needs. This study emphasizes cooperation and communication among stakeholders for enhanced MPT practices, ensuring consistent safety and user-centric roadwork planning.
