India's marine ecosystems are home to vital coral reefs, supporting a quarter of the region's marine biodiversity. Yet, these ancient ecosystems face unprecedented threats, from coral bleaching to unregulated fishing. This proposal outlines a research framework aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, aiming to understand and mitigate these threats. Leveraging advanced GIS technologies and real-time data integration, the project seeks to develop a state-of-the-art web application for coral reef monitoring. Through community engagement and policy integration, the endeavor aims to foster stewardship and inform robust environmental policies, ensuring the long-term sustainability of India's coral reefs amidst evolving challenges.
