This thesis examines dune migration in the Thar Desert's Tanot area from 1988 to 2023, using interferometric techniques and supervised classification to forecast movements until 2030. Findings indicate that vegetative coverage crucially stabilizes dunes; larger, vegetated dunes remain stable, while smaller, sparse ones near settlements migrate rapidly. Vegetated dunes help prevent sand dispersal, protecting ecosystems and human habitats. The study suggests that preserving native flora is vital for dune stability and recommends strategic land use to mitigate dune migration risks. This research provides a predictive model for dune movement, aiding future desert ecosystem management and policy development.
