This research paper investigates the profound connection between colours and emotions, drawing a comparative analysis between the physical spaces and interior spaces of cinema. The study examines the deliberate use of colours to evoke specific emotions. Through an interdisciplinary lens, the paper delves into the architect Luis Barragán’s iconic structures, including Casa Barragán, Chapel of the Capuchinas, and Casa Gilardi, alongside the film-maker Wes Anderson’s cinematic masterpieces “The Grand Budapest Hotel” and “The Royal Tenenbaums.” The analysis dissects how they strategically employ colours, transcending conventional norms to shape unique emotional narratives for their users. By synthesizing findings from both domains, the study sheds light on the shared principles of the emotional influence of colours. This inquiry not only enhances the understanding of colours’ profound impact but also offers practical insights for designers, architects, and filmmakers aiming to harness colours to evoke specific emotional responses in their work.
