This research arises from the observation of existing problems faced by the disabled in the Indian context and a key interest to understand how interior architecture can impact their retail experiences. This research focuses on user groups with mobility impairment who require assistive devices for movement. Their requirements largely affect the spatial design of retail stores and are therefore imperative to be taken in consideration for design. This research has been guided by an attempt to find design solutions to these issues. Based on analysis of the data gathered, this research culminates with derivation of guidelines addressing the same.
