Craft has played a significant role throughout world history, from early forms of communication like the cave paintings of the Upper Paleolithic era to the earthquake-resistant Kathkuni architecture of Himachal Pradesh. Over time, however, craft has evolved in terms of its processes, meanings, and results. Across history, both Indian and Western scholars have articulated diverse perspectives on craft, defining it through distinct parameters that set it apart from other forms of making and expression. This study aims to examine the evolution of these definitions and predict a possible future for craft.
