Under the Swachh Bharat mission, access to toilet facilities has increased manifold, especially in rural and settlements areas, and prompted the question of how to manage faecal waste beyond the toilet as the next stage of the value chain. In response, the government recently announced a second phase of the program, focusing on liquid waste management in rural areas and settlements. It provides a tremendous opportunity. Convergence of rural-urban strategies to achieve effective, economical, and sustainable wastewater management. Rajkot district is currently attempting to pilot the rural-urban convergence models for wastewater management; however, a lack of capacity, decision-making tools, and technology optimization results in a roadblock, which this research will try to address.
